Names That Reflect Quality At Home...
Palace Chemicals Ltd is a progressive, independent British company, committed to the innovative development of High Quality products and services, which are responsive to the needs and aspirations of its customers. Operating from Liverpool in one of the largest and most modern purpose built factories servicing the industry, Palace has established a proven reputation for providing a comprehensive range of quality products at commercially attractive prices.

The company was amongst the first supplying the DIY and building sector, to achieve accreditation to the Quality assurance standards encompassed by DS, EN ISO 9001. This effectively ensures that a system of management is applied to all activities of Production, Distribution, Service and Development, which is able to achieve consistently high standards of quality and service.

It is the stated Quality policy of the company within this system to ensure that throughout its operational activities, the company and its staff will always seek to satisfy the needs and expectations of its customers. This approach not only ensures that product requirements are constantly updated to meet an ever changing market, but also reinforces the long term confidence many purchasers and specifiers have shown in dealing with Palace Chemicals Ltd.

From its establishment in 1978 manufacturing and supplying Building, and Remedial Damp-proofing chemicals, Palace has achieved sustained and progressive growth, by virtue of consistent investment in development and technical expertise. This has created not only a broad and comprehensive range of products, able to satisfy the ever expanding requirements of the DIY industry, but also several high performance building adhesives, which have become recognised as market leaders in their field of application.

To further consolidate Palace's growing reputation as a 'one stop shop' for the major DIY retailers, the company acquired Langlow Products Ltd in October 1995. Langlow has a long established history, dating back to 1907, but has developed its well known identity within the DIY sector since 1970. A reputation for high quality products in association with excellent standards of customer service, has enabled the Langlow brand to become uniquely established with the capacity and expertise necessary to meet the high volume and diverse distribution requirements, essential to any size of DIY business.

Allied to this expertise, 'Langlow' range incorporates a comprehensive range of wood care products for specialist timber and joinery treatments and paint removers, several of which are based on exclusive technology. This range of products provides an extensive and entirely complimentary addition to the existing 'Palace' portfolio and more importantly offers the purchaser an unparalleled selection of DIY products, specialities and decorating sundries, all available effectively from one supplier.

The company's strategy of maintaining a growth rate in keeping with the demands of the DIY and Building chemicals market was further demonstrated in September 2000 with the acquisition of the Houseplan range of sealants and adhesives. This added a comprehensive range of sealants and putties, specified to meet the unique technical requirements of the sealant market, along with a range of tile adhesives sold under the Houseplan brand, which delivers the quality and performance standards enjoyed by the trade and professional tiler to the DIY and retail market.

The continued growth of the 'Palace', 'Langlow' 'and 'Houseplan' brands within the DIY sector is sustained by the company's policy of operating their own wholly integrated transport fleets, able to respond promptly and effectively to the stock management requirements of all their customers. The programme of growth and acquisition has further enhanced the benefits of independence and without doubt the alliance forged between both companies not only offers tremendous opportunities for the continued development of the product range, but also the commercial interests of an ever increasing number of customers who are getting to know 'Palace' and 'Langlow'.

...And Beyond

Recent major investments in the plant and machinery at Speke have given the company the modern technology and manufacturing capability necessary to take on the requirements of even the largest volume purchasers, offering a varied range of production and packing facilities designed to cope with the quick order turnaround demands of the fast moving retail market, but still retaining the specialist attention required to support our presence in the industrial and export markets.

The 'Langlow' product range is particularly suited to the export market, by virtue of its comprehensive selection of multipurpose, lithographed tins and drums, in sizes from 1 litre, 1 US gallon, 5 litre and 5 US gallons. Where appropriate the large sizes satisfy UN recommendations to comply with relevant transport regulations. The extensive range available does mean that arrangements can be made for handling worthwhile composite orders, as mixed container consignments will allow for the negotiation of competitive freight rates to benefit the overseas buyer.

Export packing facilities can also be arranged for the containerisation of 'Palace' and 'Houseplan' branded adhesives, sealants, fillers and paints all of which have previously been well received in full container loads by the overseas market. Many of the wood treatments described on the web site are available in 25 litre, 200 litre, 1000 litre SBC's or bulk tanker loads for the industrial user, in a range of colours to suit the specified requirements of the finished timber product.

The sustained growth seen at Palace over the last 25 years will continue to be supported with the investment in infrastructure needed to keep the company at the forefront of the DIY and building supplies industry, ensuring that whilst we will always have the capacity to be big enough to cope, we remain sufficiently in touch with all sections of the market to be small enough to care.
